Facts About Fun Uses For Microwaves: Part One

Microwaves can be used for so many things these days. Here are a bunch of fun uses for microwaves.

Recrisp Chips

Microwaves actually work great to crisp up chips. Just place them on a piece of paper towel and cook them briefly. They crisp up real quickly. You an also do this with an air fryer.

Clean Cutting Boards

Start with a lemon sliced in half and rub the cutting board all over with flesh side of the lemon. Stick the cutting board in your microwave for one minute on medium. This will disinfect your cutting board.

Prevent Explosions

Yes, explosions happens. Things sometimes blow up in the microwave, accidentally of course, but it does happen to some foods. If you stab certain foods with a fork first, it will allow for steam to escape and therefore prevent it from exploding while cooking. Make sure to pierce potatoes, squash, and tomatoes before you put them in the microwave so that the steam escapes from them.

Clean Your Microwave

Use your microwave, to clean your microwave. All you have to do is squeeze two lemons into a bowl of water. Drop the cut and squeezed lemons into the water. Nuke the bowl for five minutes on medium heat. Just take a wet washcloth or piece of toilet paper and all you’ll have to do is give the inside of your microwave a quick wipe.

Make Eggs

Microwave eggs are so fluffy and delicious, just make sure that you don’t overcook them! Scramble up your eggs and microwave them for about 30 seconds. Take them out and stir them up again. Put them back in for another 30 seconds and stir again. For a microwave omelet, add in spices like salt, pepper, and cheese and stir them up before you cook the eggs, or you could add it after your eggs are cooked as well. Yum.

De-Cry Your Onion

You know, when you cut your onions and it makes you cry? There’s a microwave trick that can make sure this doesn’t happen. Cut the ends off of your onion. Then, stick it into the microwave on full power for 30 seconds, and apparently when you cut into it, you will not tear up. In contrast to this, you can stick your onion into the refrigerator and when you cut it, you won’t cry either.

Dry Herbs

Surprisingly enough, you can dry out fresh herbs in the microwave. Simply place them on a paper plate or paper towel and nuke them for 30 seconds. Take the herbs out and flip them. Continue this process for 3-4 minutes or until your herbs are dry. This has got to be one of the best fun uses of a microwave, yet.

 Unstale Bread

You don’t have to throw away old bread or feed it to the birds. Similar to chips, you can also dry out, ie unstale it, in the microwave. Place a damp paper towel around your piece of bread and microwave it for 10 seconds on high.

Help Peel Garlic

There are so many different ways to peel garlic, but this is one of the easier ways. Place our head of garlic into the microwave for 15 seconds on medium. Take it out of the microwave and the cloves will slide right out.

Speed Up Soaking

Have you ever made beans or lentils from dry bags? They need to be soaked overnight typically, but who has time for that? Put the beans/lentils into a bowl with a pinch of baking soda and fill the bowl with water. Microwave the submerged beans/lentils on high for ten minutes. Take them out and let them stand for 30 to 40 minutes.
