Some people think of May as the start of summer but what about being the national hamburger month? Here’s how to celebrate everything burgers.
Well, you make burgers, of course! Stuffed, topped, and seasoned to perfection. Everyone likes some type of burger, whether it’s big, red, and juicy, or a black bean burger with Mexican spices.
From Gourmet Cheeseburgers to the classics, these are the best ways to make and enjoy hamburgers all throughout the month of May.
Blue Ribbon Barbeque Chicken Cheeseburgers
This burger uses ground chicken, salt and pepper, aged cheddar cheese, barbeque sauce, and bacon, for a succulent and flavorful burger. Just mix the spices with the ground chicken meat and cook the burgers off. Separately fry bacon and add to the burger along with the aged cheddar cheese and whatever bun you’d like. Yum, let’s do it.
Pimento-Stuffed Cheeseburgers
If you’ve had pimento cheese, you know how yummy and versatile it is. You can use it as a dip, as a spread, on burgers, or like this one, stuffed in them. Mixing burger meat like ground chuck and ground sirloin with salt and pepper is just the beginning. For the pimento cheese mixture, add sharp cheddar, dry mustard, mayonnaise, and chopped pimentos and mix. Stuff your cheese mixture in between two burger patties and be sure to completely “seal” in the cheese with the burger meat. Cook them to preference and then add to hamburger buns and top with chili relish.
Bacon Mac and Cheese Burger
Bacon and macaroni and cheese are at the top of people’s comfort foods and adding them to a burger? I mean what could be better? This burger is topped with a siracha bourbon sauce as well and sounds like a burger made in comfort heaven.
Curd Burger
A delicious burger patty topped with cheese curds? Talk about a great burger! White and yellow cheese curds are piled high, along with onion straws and signature pub sauce.
Beer Cheese Steak Burger
If you love beer and you love cheese, this is your ultimate burger fantasy. And to be honest, it sounds amazing. Start with a ground steak burger and top it with bacon, and spring mix. This burger is best on a pretzel bun and it’s smothered with a trademarked beer cheese sauce.
Nacho Burgers
Burgers and nachos as a combination sounds absolutely sinful, and how have we not always been eating? Make a salsa with vegetable oil, chipotle chiles in adobo, 3 diced plum tomatoes, chopped cilantro, and salt. A cheese sauce comes together with butter, flour, milk, Monterey Jack cheese, grated pecorino, salt, and pepper as a delicious topping. Pile your burger high with the salsa and cheese, and maybe a couple of tortilla chips as well.
Uncle Louie Burgers
These burgers are upscale with sliced avocado, Russian dressing, and of course, bacon. The story was that the Uncle Louie burger was only available to staffers at one time. But manager ordered a burger “Louie-style” in front of some regulars and word got out. Due to popular demand, the burger was added to the menu.
Stilton Sirloin Burgers with Onion Jam
Cook sliced onions in a skillet about 10 minutes or until softened. Add in red wine vinegar, honey, and thyme, and simmer, stirring until the liquid is gone or about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and get rid of the thyme. Grill the burgers to preference, adding the Stilton cheese in the last couple of cooking minutes. Top the burger with the onion jam, lettuce, and serve.
Chicken Burgers with Peanut Sauce
For this juicy new take on a yummy burger, you need ground chicken and red onion. Take chili powder, salt, garam masala, coconut milk, peanut butter, hot water, chopped and salted peanuts and mix them together for your peanut sauce. For the burger, mix the ground chicken, quarter cup onions, and vegetable oil. To plate, place the patty on the bun, add the diced onion on top and drizzle with the peanut sauce. Yum.
Caprese Burgers
Like a salad but on a burger, this Caprese-style burger is the new way you have to have burgers this month. Add pesto to the burger meat before you grill them, then top it with mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, and more pesto.
And a play on the Crunchburger
The house burger at Bobby’s Burger Palace is their signature burger. It’s garnished with red onion, tomato, romaine lettuce, and horseradish mustard with a crunch, aka potato chips. Sounds good to me.
How often do you eat burgers at home? Which burger do you just have to try first this year?
